Creative Innsbruck

David Dickie writes:

We arrived in Innsbruck at night. Surrounded by mountains it was difficult to see where the land ends, the twinkling lights up the hillside, and the sky and the stars start. Bahrun and I were immediately impressed by the scenery. Burhan Gebhardt picked us up from the station; our mission for this two night stay was to check out venues and make arrangements for musical equipment, systems and required hardware.

Flights and Shuttles!

Flights to Munich are generally cheaper than flying into Innsbruck, and the shuttle cost Munich to Innsbruck return is €30 until 28.2.2005. (Thereafter €35). Please try and arrange arrival times to meet the latest shuttle departure at 21.00 h from Munich – Innsbruck on 19th and 20th July 2005. Departure flights from Munich should if possible be booked earliest at 12.00 h on the 4th, 5th or 6th of August 2005 to allow for the shuttle journey from Innsbruck to Munich. Incase you have flights that don’t meet the shuttle schedule, you may need to stay an extra night in Munich and take public transport which costs around €120 return.

REGISTER NOW!

REGISTRATION FEES ARE LOWEST UNTIL FEBRUARY 28th 2005.

Due to delays in getting the website registration and payment systems to work properly, and to have the information available in several languages, we have decided to give members more time to benefit from the 'Early Registration rates' until the 28th of February. National and local committees are urged to arrange for helping members with or without internet to book online if possible.

Reduced Rates for Less Developed Countries (LDCs):

The reduced rate being offered for members in LDCs is intended only for those who really need it. However, the computerised system will automatically calculate the lower fee. We are aware that there are also members in the developed countries who may also need support in going to congress, so for those members who can afford the normal rate a donation to make up the difference can be made by adding it to the section for donations.

Passports and VISAS:

You need to REGISTER, click 'pay later', and the 'require visa' box, in order to get an invitation from us for the visa application. Remember, it can take a few weeks (in some countries, months) to get a passport and to apply for visas. If necessary you can give your old passport number at the registration to meet the early deadline, and inform us of the new one as soon as you receive it.

PAYMENT:

Payment by credit card is completely safe via the online registration system. However, for reservation of accomodation, you are not encouraged to
send your credit card numbers unprotected by e-mail to the Innsbruck Reservation. It is better to either call or fax this information if it is required.
Tel:+43-512-56 2000 210
Fax: +43-512-56 2000 220
and give them the number per fax or phone.

GET INVOLVED:

Anyone interested in leading a project /workshop, volunteering or joining the organising team as a staff member, should fill out this form. Staff members are eligible to receive some discounts so for those looking for ways to finance their expenses, this is an option!

Assistance for YOUTH INITIATIVES:

The Guerrand Hermes Foundation for Peace is considering applications for assistance for Young Members wishing to initiate activities for youth at congress. Check the direct link on the We're all Going website: http://youth.worldcongress2005.com/create/index.shtml?x=229

Progress Report

compiled by Amalia Dickie
I could no longer resist the temptation! I’ve now joined the congress organising team, helping with communications. Everyone has been so busy for months, getting everything in place and it seemed such a shame that most of this activity remains invisible. So now this news section will be updated every few weeks with progress reports.

A workspace has been set up in the internet allowing access of ISC and council members while facilitating communications of work processes between team members who are spread out in the U.K., Germany and Austria. Even ‘skyping’ has been added to our vocabulary, which means we can phone each other through cyberspace… all free of charge!

Contracts have been signed thanks to guarantors who are carrying the risks on all our behalf. The main programming work is now done for this website with an impressive database backing, a very useful tool that can be used again at future congresses. Translation work never ends, so information is also available soon in French, Spanish, Russian and Indonesian! Accommodation facilities are checked and reserved, catering arrangements carefully negotiated, child care, airline discounts and……much more…… Registration numbers are now climbing slowly up to the 400 mark. Groups are beginning to organise themselves to help members without internet access to get registered. Some are even making anonymous bulk registrations to make use of the lower rates, giving themselves more time to actually name their delegates or members that will come. Hard copies of registration forms are also available for groups to download for those that need them. Registrations are still possible at the lowest rates until the 28th of February 2005, so please help us and yourself by not delaying!

Welcome

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Your ISC team and the Congress Organizing Team warmly invite you all to participate in the 12th Subud World Congress that will take place in Innsbruck from July 21st through August 4th, 2005.

We are now launching the website for the World Congress - www.worldcongress2005.com - coordinated by Anwar Ziesel (Congress Organizing Team), and designed and produced by an international team such as Vitor Martins of Portugal, Hubert Talib of Bali/Austria (who designed the Congress logo) and Stewart Horthy of Great Britain, plus 14 translators from all around the world. A big thank to you all!

In this website you will find all the information you need to know, and how to register yourself and your family.

In case you cannot afford the expense you are invited to click on the "We're all going" link, a project that aims to help young members and not so young to attend Congress.

If you are able to afford a bit more, you are invited to contribute to this project so that every member in the world that so wish can join us in Innsbruck.

“We’re all going” is an initiative of Daniel Cheifetz coordinated by Meldan Heaslip, who has put together another worldwide team with zonal coordinators and will require the involvement of National Committees and the generous donations of us all.

And sorry for the legal warning you will have to accept prior registering yourself, we are only trying to protect WSA from eventual legal claims that may put our Association at risk.

With the launching of the website we are now opening - starting October 1st - the registration process for the Subud World Congress 2005, expecting that all of you will register as soon as possible - as we need to start collecting the registration fees in order to afford the venue and the expenses. So, please, do help us by not delaying your registration!

Looking forward to see you all in Innsbruck, with your hopes, dreams, proposals and ideas.

Laurencio Young
ISC Chairman
